Hello Halloween

Halloween in Southern California? Say it ain't so. Halloween is my favorite holiday so the idea of celebrating it in my favorite vacation spot was exciting. Jon had to work on some teeth in the simulation lab at USC in the morning so Kristi baked some chocolate chip cookies and I helped. We met up with Jon around noon and hung out with him in the lab while he finished up a peg lateral and had it inspected by his professor. Afterwards we decided to have some fun in the clinic where the real patients get worked on. I donned some protective gear (which also ended up being my Halloween costume that night) and Jon took over camera duty. Kristi climbed into a chair and the shenanigans commenced.

No cavities here:

Turns out Koala-T is a certified dental hygienist:

After we finished up in the lab we decided to head deeper into the hood to look for bargains at a thrift store. The freeway was moving fast but if it had been the stop and go so common in Los Angeles these guys would have no doubt been selling tacos to motorists:

At the thrift store we found a couple of bargains and upon leaving I spied this sweet little Chevy/Vauxhall that had jumped over the border from Mexico:

Now we were in the mood for a little aquatic recreation so we decided to head down to the LA River. For those of you who are not familiar with it it is a river that runs through Los Angeles and has been concreted in to help manage flooding when it rains.

Heading down to the river:

Had to cross some railroad tracks:

Stabbed my hand on a rusty chain link fence on the way down:

There she is!

At the water's edge:

A mutated duck-dentist:

Koala-T!

That evening we had a chili cooking contest to attend so we decided to go all out:

Unfortunately we didn't win. We did however have an awesome time at a party near the USC campus. We walked down Frat Row but you had to be a girl to get into any of the parties so Jon and I waited until Kristi got off work. No, we didn't take her to a frat party. We spotted an outdoor rave from a few blocks away so we walked over to check it out. Taking hits of E isn't really our thing so we just stood outside and listened to the music for a bit.

All in all it was a good Halloween. Stay tuned for November!
